Round 7- Oulton Park
Graeme Gowland debuted on the Appleyard Macadam at round 7 of the British Supersport Championship and hit the ground running at Oulton Park, picking up two sixth places and challenging at the front throughout both encounters.
Gowland was on the pace almost immediately, setting the fastest first sector time in qualifying and challenging for pole position before he crashed out at Shell Hairpin and had to settle for seventh on the gird.
In the first race, Gowland was battling for a top five finish before getting held up as a rider ahead ran on at the Hizzy Chicane. He was able to battle back through to sixth place and take ten points on his debut.
The Feature race on Sunday saw a six rider scrap for the win and Allendale rider, Gowland, was in the thick of it. Looking for fourth place he dived under the inside of the rider ahead at Knickerbrook on the last lap but the move didn't stick and he was forced wide, throwing away a certain fifth place. However, finishing just 1.8 seconds adrift of the ace winner is a positive sign for the Appleyard Macadam Doodson squad.
Graeme Gowland: "I'm very happy with how the weekend has gone. The Appleyard Macadam team have made me feel right at home, I've settled straight in. In such a short time of getting the bike built and trying to find a strong setup, I think we've had two really successful results. The last race especially, obviously to be 1.8 seconds behind the leader after making a mistake on the last lap shows that we're not a million miles away. We've got somewhere to work from now and hopefully we can progress further with a test at Cadwell Park this coming week. That should be a big help for the next round and I think we stand in a good place."
Round 8- Cadwell Park
Appleyard Macadam Racing secured their first podium of the year at Cadwell Park thanks to Graeme Gowland clinching third place in the Sprint race.
