PODIUM FOR GOWLAND AND FTR IN MOTO2
After a superb debut on the British built FTR Moto2 prototype machine the previous weekend at Jerez, Graeme Gowland showed his and the machine's potential with an excellent result at Valencia in the final round of the Spanish Championship when he finished on the podium.
This weekend saw an increased number of Moto2's with 11 entered including current and ex-Grand Prix riders such as Joan Olive, Shuei Aoyama, Roby Rolfo and Anthony West.
The 2009 season has seen the debut of Moto2 racing with the Moto2 machines racing in the Formula Extreme (Superbike) class at the Spanish Championship to help with development ahead of the inaugural 2010 season of Moto2 grand prix racing.
MOTO2 RACE DEBUT FOR GOWLA
Graeme Gowland made a return to the Spanish Championship at the weekend when he teamed up once again with the Honda Joe Darcey Team, with whom he won the 2007 Spanish Supersport Championship, who are working together with FTR (Fabrication Techniques Racing) to produce a race-winning Moto2 contender. Moto2 is the all-new race class in MotoGP next year, replacing the 250's, with the machines being race prototypes.
The penultimate round of the Spanish Championship was held at the Jerez circuit in the south of the country where Gowla finished an impressive fourth in the Moto2 class and thirteenth overall against a field of 1000cc Extreme bikes.
The 2010 season sees, former Spanish Supersport Champion, Graeme Gowland competing in the competitive British Supersport Championship.
Graeme will be riding a Parkalgar PTR Honda CBR600RR, which took Eugene Laverty to 2nd in the World Supersport Championship in 2009, as well as receiving help from all the guys at PTR in his own newly formed team.
