Mixed Weekend at Oulton

Round 3 of the MCE British Superbikes headed to Oulton Park in Cheshire and Graeme 'Gowla' Gowland was ready for a busy weekend of practice, qualifying and the triple header over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The weather forecast was changeable with a mixture of sun and heavy showers predicted throughout the three days.

Graeme was fast from the off but in the second part of the first practice session he high-sided coming out of Knickerbrook, fracturing his right wrist in the fall and a visit to the medical centre followed where his wrist was strapped up so he could continue riding throughout the weekend as long as he could keep the swelling down and put up with the discomfort.

Qualifying for Bank Holiday Monday's races got under way on Sunday as glorious sunshine graced the circuit and Graeme onboard his WFR Honda posted the 5th quickest time making it through to Q2.

TOUGH START TO THE 2012 SEASON FOR GOWLA

The opening weekend of the 2012 British Superbike Championship got underway at Brands Hatch on Easter weekend but the event was cut short after rain had battered the Kent circuit for two days straight.

Team WFR had set some encouraging times throughout free practice on Friday and Saturday in dry conditions but when qualifying began on Sunday the rain had started to fall.

After a disappointing qualifying session all round for Team WFR they were hopeful of making up some ground in the race but when Monday came the conditions hadn't improved at all.
